Paul Tripp in Belfast

Author Paul Tripp who is currently a member of the pastoral staff at Tenth Philadelphia Presbyterian Church is giving two talks at Belfast Bible College. He is giving an evening seminar on 21st October at 8:00pm called ‘The Challenge of Change in the Local Church.’ On Wednesday there is an event for church leaders, ‘Moving God’s People from Membership to Ministry.’ This runs from 10:00- 3:00 and registration is preferred. Annual Theological Lectures

Professor Gordon Wenham, Professor Emeritus of the University of Gloucestershire and former lecturer at the School of Semitic Studies, Queen’s University of Belfast will give this year’s of the Anglican Chaplaincy of the University of Ulster (at Jordanstown and Belfast). They will take place on 3rd&4th November, 2008, 7.30pm at the Belfast campus of the University (beside Belfast Cathedral). The subject of the two lectures is ‘The Old Testament as Christian Scripture’. Free car parking is available in the precincts of Belfast Cathedral and tea/coffee will be served from 6.30pm.

Preaching Conference Update

The first NIMA preaching conference will be held 26-28 January 2009 at Glenada, Newcastle, Co Down. The main speaker will be Ed Lobb, Director of Cornhill Scotland, The conference will also have workshops on 1&2 Timothy, Mark, Ruth, 1 Corinthians and Revelation.  A full brochure will be available soon and online booking will hopefully be available from 1st November. We are limited in the numbers we can accommodate so please book early to avoid disappointment.

NIMA ’08 Approaches

The speakers at NIMA 2008 are Peter Adam, Melvin Tinker and John Woodside. Many of you will be familiar with local man John but perhaps not so familiar with the others. Online booking for the 2008 Assembly is now available. For those who prefer offline booking the brochure can be downloaded for posting in. Follow the links in the right hand column on the 2008 Assembly page of the site. Booking closes on Friday 7 November 2008.

2010

2010 sounds like the title of a sci-fi film from the 1960′s but of course its just a couple of years off. NIMA is already planning ahead and have confirmed Vaughan Roberts as one of the speakers for the 2010 Assembly. Vaughan Roberts is Rector of St Ebbe’s Church, Oxford and also a well-known author. Keep an eye out for more details nearer the time.

Visit of Dale Ralph Davis- Update

As mentioned before the visit of DRD will include a minister’s morning. It will be held on Monday 23rd June at Belfast Bible College. It will run from 10:00- 12:45. The cost is £5 including lunch. To register contact niall@atthecastle.org.uk

Visit of Dale Ralph Davis

Dale Ralph Davis, minister of Woodland Presbyterian Chruch, Hattiesburg MS and author of several OT commentaries will be the speak at the next @thecastle event 20th-22nd June. You can get details of this event from their website www.atthecastle.org.uk. There will be a public event with Dr Davis on Sunday evening 22nd- details tbc. On Monday morning there will be a morning for pastors and church leaders at Belfast Bible College entitled The Word Became Fresh.

MTS(NI) Training Day

Ministry Training Strategy (Northern Ireland) is holding a training morning for trainers, ministry apprentices and potential apprentices with Vaughan Roberts
(Rector of St Ebbe’s, Oxford, author, speaker and co-founder, the 9:38 web apprenticeship scheme). It will be held on Tuesday 29th April, 2008 @ 10am – 12.30pm at St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Church Halls, Jordanstown
(off the Jordanstown Road, after level crossing, right hand side). The cost will be £5. Vaughan will address The Nature of Gospel ministry and The Character of the Gospel Minister.
